milk & honey studio is me, Andreanna

My passion for photography comes second only to my family. Being invited to document something as important as a wedding or a child's wide eyed grin, catching all of life's behind the scenes moments is what I live for. I shoot film, because it has a beauty and depth that is incomparable for me...and it just puts a smile on my face :)

Time well spent = hanging out with my lovely little family; going to the movies or to watch a band play; watching the clouds roll in on a rainy day; going for a drive to nowhere in particular....

why am I milk & honey studio?

Because I'm a sap :)

For our first date, my husband and I went to a record store. I bought one cd that day, Milk and Honey by John and Yoko. When I was naming my business, I wanted to embody it with the same love and adoration I have for my husband. And that's how milk & honey came to be.

fun fact : I still have the bag and receipt from the record store :)

Everytime I go to Fillmore I find another spot I love to shoot at. We started off by the trains, and ended at this beautiful little grassy knoll, where the trees were bountiful with white blossoms thanks to all this rain we’ve been having! Then a quick stop at another favorite spot of mine, with tons of green and just the right amount of light seeping through. This was a “just for fun” shoot that is actually part one. Part two will be held at the beach when the weather clears up, so keep an eye out for that :) .

I’m writing this in between packing for our annual trip to Vegas for the WPPI convention!! (think Comi-Con for photographers ;) ) I’ll be back in the office and responding to emails on Thursday. Enjoy your week!

couples : jenny & keith

So I’m posting this kind of backwards, but sometimes it’s fun to change it up :) . This is Jenny & Keith’s day after session. It was so much fun to be around them, watching how they make each other burst out in laughter, and the glances they passed back and forth that carried so much love and joy. When you bring love in front of a camera, there is beauty captured in every image.

Photos from their intimate elopement are coming soon! For now, enjoy….

pregnancy : alexia

My lovely friend Fiona referred Alexia to me a few months back. She wanted to document her fourth and final pregnancy (still can’t believe she is a mama of four!). Having already rescheduled like three times thanks to the rain, and with her due date fast approaching, we tentatively planned this for the week before she was due and crossed our fingers.  Thankfully, for once the weather man was right on and we had a beautiful sunset for our backdrop! Love love love pregnancy sessions! Thank you so much Alexia for inviting me to document the end of a wonderful journey.  I can’t wait to meet your baby girl!

(Alexia had her baby yesterday afternoon!  Be sure to leave her some love in the comments :) )

sneak peek

More from this sunset pregnancy session is coming to the blog next week!

holiday portraits : liam jack & aidan

Last month I participated in the SCV Moms Blog give away a day, which was so cool to be a part of! The winner of the milk & honey give away received a free holiday portrait session, where I got to meet these three fantastic boys! You can see they each have a unique personality, but that they get along really well which made for a fun shoot!

portraits : biel

It was so much fun to shoot these two, you can see the joy in each moment they share :)   The weather and light were so amazing, I couldn’t have asked for anything better!! I loved so many it was hard to cut it down…so I didn’t!

baby : hendrix

I’ve known this little guys mom since we were running around in L.A. Gear high tops and listening to Milli Vanilli :)   I love that we are all grown up now, each with our own little families.  It’s so cliché, but life really does go by in a beautiful flash, and I’m happy to pause it even if only for a frame at a time.

I was lucky enough to meet Fiona and her family about a year ago, after I started using her company (fresh xpress).  This month is the one year anniversary of them becoming a family (and their 10 year wedding anniversary!), so she asked me to capture some portraits of them all together.  Every time I see these kids I can’t help but smile, they just give off a light!  We went to Fillmore, which I decided is a really underrated little town.  It has a lot of character that I plan to use in future shoots….

old los angeles zoo : part one

A couple of weeks ago I got together with a few photographer friends at a really cool location, added four super rad models, two  awesome make-up artists, and the results are the following images. I had a hard time narrowing it down, so I’m just splitting them all up in to two posts!

Thanks so much to everyone!!! (Especially Ben for putting it all together!)  Check back soon for part 2….
